Sunshine Blogger Award

Hi everyone! Sorry for my recent lack of posts, I’m taking a break because I’m too busy getting ready for school and following the Winter Olympics.

Recently I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Karilan / Samasasim, an amazing writer who writes my favourite “legacy” or generations story called How to Live With Grace, along with other awesome stories. Check them out if you haven’t already, you will not be disappointed! Thank you very much for the nomination.

My answers to Karilen’s questions:

  1. Has any of your writing been inspired by someone else’s SimLit?

Definitely. Everything I read leaves some sort of impression, and SimLit is no different! The first few SimLit works I read inspired me to start writing my own, so that’s the biggest influence. Others are tugging me towards taking screenshots… Now I’m very tempted. Perhaps I will for anything else I’ll write 😀

  1. What is your favorite word?

There are so many Korean words I love, but I can’t do them justice in translation. My favourite English word would be Hitchhiking. It’s the title of one of my all-time go-to songs, and I like the sense of freedom and travel it gives.

  1. Do you spend an equal amount of time playing as you do writing?

I played a lot of my legacy before I started writing, and then when I started writing, I stopped playing. I think my game is already halfway through generation 8! In the long run, I think it will all even out.

  1. Would you rather lay on the beach under the sun, or curl up in front of the fire in a snowy lodge?

I would go to the snowy lodge… then ignore the fire and play in the snow. It’s summer here. Too hot to contemplate sitting in front of a fire!

  1. Have you ever recreated your own home in any Sims game?

No. But I should! Why did I never think of that?

  1. What do you do when you get stuck developing a character?

First I draw them. Then I write out random things about them. I have late-night discussions with my roomie about them. Over time they begin to develop things about them that are hopefully interesting.

  1. Has a story ever taken a turn you didn’t expect? What did you do about it?

Yup. I screamed. Then cried. Then complained a fair bit. But when Sims gives you triplets, you suck it up then take care of all three of them.

  1. Have you ever tried to rewrite an old story from a new perspective?

Yes. I’m trying right now. It’s this… know what, I’ll answer that in question 11 xD

  1. Bella Goth is one of my favorite of EA’s townies that jumps between each of the games. Have you ever played her and given her a different life than EA’s mystery?

Funnily enough, I didn’t get to see Bella Goth much in my game. I guess she died back sometime during the earlier generations, but even when I start a new game, she never featured much. (Mortimer walked around quite a lot though.) It’s as if she is embracing the mysterious lifestyle. If she ever gets tired of it, she’ll come find me.

  1. Think about someone who makes you smile. Who is it?

Chris Pratt…

  1. If you could sit down with any of your characters for an hour, who would it be, and what would you ask them?

I think that would be a bad idea, they’ll try to kill me for being horrible to them. But if I had some sort of affirmation that they won’t totally murder me, I’ll sit down and talk to one of the main characters of this other story I’m writing. It’s a story that has been drifting around my head for quite some time and it’s gone through many changes over the years, but I’m having trouble starting it because I can’t quite nail down that one character. I’ll sit him down and find out what he’s like, and if I have time left I’ll tell him off for having been so elusive for the past something years.

I won’t nominate eleven people, because I don’t follow that many blogs and some people I follow have already been named. I’ll nominate just two: IchigoUsagi and TheYayToast. These two lovely writers are just starting out on SimLit like me, and their stories are definitely something to look forward to!

My questions to you:

  1. What inspired you to start writing SimLit?
  2. What do you think is the one lamentable thing missing in sims? (Ex. for me it’s seasons.)
  3. If you were a sim in Sims 4, what would your traits be?
  4. What is your favourite and least favourite cliché?
  5. Pitch your SimLit as a haiku! (Or a limerick, if that makes it easier. Or iambic pentameter… Or any poem form you like.)
  6. What is your all-time favourite game (apart from Sims 😉 )?
  7. What is your favourite mythical being?
  8. What do you think is the most despicable trait in an antagonist?
  9. Do you prefer making sims or building houses? Or are you the type that doesn’t care as long as they do the thing?
  10. Is there a SimLit you absolutely must recommend? Why?
  11. What do you think makes a story a SimLit?

Thank you everyone! I’ll start up my twice-a-week posting schedule again soon after the Olympics end. Have a wonderful day 😀
